Mission

Rooted in justice.  Powered by community.  Led by faith.

Rustic Objects

Objectives of Resilient Roots Milwaukee:

  1. Transform Vacant Properties into Resilience Hubs
Reclaim abandoned and underutilized buildings in the 53206 zip code and retrofit them into vibrant, clean-energy-powered Neighborhood Resilience Hubs that serve as safe, accessible, and empowering spaces for community members.

  2. Advance Environmental and Climate Justice
Implement solar energy, geothermal systems, and green infrastructure to reduce energy burdens, improve indoor air quality, and protect residents from climate-related crises and utility shutoffs.

  3. Promote Digital Equity and Tech Access
Provide free public Wi-Fi, computer access, digital literacy training, and tech-based economic opportunities to close the digital divide in Milwaukee’s central city neighborhoods.

  4. Empower Economic Self-Determination through Cooperative Models
Establish pathways for community ownership, workforce development, and cooperative enterprises that generate wealth, green jobs, and shared decision-making power for local residents.

  5. Foster Cultural and Intergenerational Healing
Create spaces that uplift Afro-Indigenous traditions, honor local wisdom, and support mental, spiritual, and communal wellness — especially for elders, youth, and returning citizens.

  6. Strengthen Community Resilience through Faith and Justice
Root all initiatives in faith-based principles of justice, service, and stewardship, working to repair harm caused by systemic racism, redlining, and environmental neglect.

  7. Build Leadership and Organizing Power
Equip residents — especially youth and grassroots leaders — with tools, knowledge, and platforms to lead environmental and social change in their own neighborhoods.
