Mission
Rooted in justice. Powered by community. Led by faith.

Objectives of Resilient Roots Milwaukee:
-
Transform Vacant Properties into Resilience Hubs
Reclaim abandoned and underutilized buildings in the 53206 zip code and retrofit them into vibrant, clean-energy-powered Neighborhood Resilience Hubs that serve as safe, accessible, and empowering spaces for community members.
-
Advance Environmental and Climate Justice
Implement solar energy, geothermal systems, and green infrastructure to reduce energy burdens, improve indoor air quality, and protect residents from climate-related crises and utility shutoffs.
-
Promote Digital Equity and Tech Access
Provide free public Wi-Fi, computer access, digital literacy training, and tech-based economic opportunities to close the digital divide in Milwaukee’s central city neighborhoods.
-
Empower Economic Self-Determination through Cooperative Models
Establish pathways for community ownership, workforce development, and cooperative enterprises that generate wealth, green jobs, and shared decision-making power for local residents.
-
Foster Cultural and Intergenerational Healing
Create spaces that uplift Afro-Indigenous traditions, honor local wisdom, and support mental, spiritual, and communal wellness — especially for elders, youth, and returning citizens.
-
Strengthen Community Resilience through Faith and Justice
Root all initiatives in faith-based principles of justice, service, and stewardship, working to repair harm caused by systemic racism, redlining, and environmental neglect.
